Detox Program Celebrates One-Year Anniversary at North Alabama Shoals Hospital

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala., – Following its first year of operation, Genesis Medical Detox celebrated its anniversary at North Alabama Shoals Hospital on Tuesday. The eight-bed facility located on the fourth floor opened its doors on Jan. 9, 2023 and has served 435 patients in its first 12 months.

“I am very proud that we have been able to help the community by being a resource,” said Tim Brennan, Chief Operating Officer at Genesis. “They have really grown to trust us.”

Brennan added that as the center grew and began to develop a reputation, word quickly spread of the positive outcomes from patients suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

“We have started to see other programs send their patients, who need our help, to our facility and everyone is leaving here with an after-care plan,” he said. “It has been a tremendous first year and we have the potential to continue to grow. The medical staff and nursing staff here are amazing.”

The Shoals Detox Center features a 20-member staff, including eight nurses, and a medical director.

“As we reach our first anniversary, we are grateful for the partnership with Genesis,” said North Alabama Shoals Hospital COO Doug Holzbog. “This has been a successful venture for everyone and has created a welcoming place for people to seek help for addiction issues.”
